Food for Thought is a new initiative inspired to celebrate Margate's richly diverse community by hosting a dynamic programme of speakers at Union Church.
Expect to hear fascinating thoughts and insights on anything from fine art to folk music while touching on issues of faith and spirituality. Discussion and engagement is encouraged and we welcome people of all faiths, atheists, creatives, our LBGT+ community and a wide range of ages and political views.
We strongly believe that being a person of faith, and especially of the Christian faith, is often the inspiration for trying to live caringly and in a community-minded way and does not require people to shun science or discriminate against those with different beliefs, sexuality or life choices.
Taking place every fourth Sunday of the month this informal, family-friendly gathering offers a free breakfast and hot drink. There will be music – both communal and performative – and a period of guided quiet meditation on the themes but will not include conventional hymns and prayers.
We look forward to seeing you!

Union Church Margate is a vibrant and friendly community, formed in May 1998 from the uniting of St Stephen's Methodist Church and Margate URC on URC premises. Later they were joined by the members of Buckingham Road Chapel which closed.
The church currently hosts Margate Social Singing Choir; Tai Chi, badminton and chess clubs; Thanet Parkinson's Group; and Girl Guiding units ... and those are just a few of the activities undertaken at this useful community facility.
